On the 5th of January 2008, the Tuba Powerhouse was honored to be featured in the second concert of local brass group, “Just Brass”, held at the Lee Foundation Theatre, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). We performed a total of three pieces and were proud to be invited to guest-play for the Just Brass Ensemble – Brass Band, conducted by Richard Adams in the second half of the concert.
-Tuba Duet (featuring our tubists Jin Hao and Gabriel)
-Album for the Young
-Christmas March (an arrangement by our very own euphonist, Ignatius)
It was a great experience for Tuba Powerhouse and we were also fortunate to be able to invite Mr Pei Lian Wei and Ms Lau Lifeng from the Philharmonic Tuba Ensemble, to join us for the performance. Of course, we made use of this opportunity to have our respective master-classes with them, as well as improving the effectiveness of our rehearsals. We also got the chance to practice at the studios in NAFA (thanks to Lian Wei), which were indeed a refreshing change from our usual heartwarming homeground in the east!
It was a fine performance on concert day, as we played to an almost full-house hall and the pleasant comments were a bonus. We had great fun mixing around with the fun and friendly musicians from ‘JustBrass’ and ConCORdis, and it was a great privilege that the Tuba Powerhouse was invited and agreed to be part of the Just Brass family after the concert.
Last, but not least, Tuba Powerhouse would like to thank Mr. Choy Wei Peng and members of the ‘Just Brass’ ensemble for their kind invitation; our friends and guest players Mr. Pei Lian Wei and Ms Lau Lifeng; Mr. Peter Felice for his endorsement and support; and most importantly, families and friends of the Tuba Powerhouse!
